World Responsible Tourism, in association with the UN’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), is a universal movement, helping to build a solid, sustainable future for responsible, philanthropic and eco travel and tourism. Since its introduction seven years ago, World Responsible Tourism has captured the hearts and minds of responsible and philanthropic travel facilitators everywhere.
Gandhi Legacy Tour (GLT) has received permission to proudly display the World Responsible Tourism emblem to emphasize commitment to “responsible travel” for a third consecutive year 2015. Responsible and philanthropic travel honors sustainable projects across the planet, underscoring a critical part that responsible and philanthropic travel must play in serving those whom we visit during our Gandhian travels.
Responsible Tourism and the UNWTO

WTM Responsible Tourism In 2002, 280 representatives from all sectors of tourism from 20 countries attended the Cape Town Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations, preceding the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. A declaration on responsible tourism was agreed. WTM Responsible Tourism holds the World Responsible Tourism Day. Since its introduction, WTM World Responsible Tourism Day, in association with the UNWTO, has captured the hearts and minds of industry professionals everywhere.
Wednesday 4 November is WTM World Responsible Tourism Day 2015, marked not only at World Travel Market, but around the world with special events, communications and consumer promotions, demonstrating the industry’s determination to make a real difference.

Lynnea Bylund is managing director of Gandhi Legacy Tours, Director of Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute, founder of Catalyst House and has nearly three decades of experience in administration, marketing and business development. She was a nationally recognized spokeswoman for the emerging alternative video and information delivery industries. She has a degree in holistic health-nutrition from the legendary and controversial health educator and activist Dr. Kurt Donsbach, she is the founder of two not-for-profit small business-based wireless trade associations and has lobbied on Capitol Hill and at the FCC where she has spoken out strongly against the cable TV monopoly, illegal spectrum warehousing and ill-conceived congressional schemes to auction our nation’s precious airwaves to the highest bidder.
Ms. Bylund is a founder and former CEO of a Washington DC telecommunications consulting and management company with holdings in several operating and developmental wireless communications systems and companies. In 1995 Lynnea became the first female in the world to be awarded a Broadband PCS operating permit – she was one of only 18 winners, along with Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon in the biggest cash auction in world history, raising a whopping $7.7 billion. Lynnea also spear-headed the successful effort to launch the first cable TV network in the South Pacific islands.
