Stopping at Matvad the group will walk the last 5 kilometers (3 miles) to Dandi retracing the footsteps of Bapu and the 80 handpicked satygrahis who accompanied him from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi on the epic 241 mile Salt March Satyagraha.
Then from Dandi drive to Dharasana and visit the site of the raid on the Government Salt Depto.
Dandi is a small village in the Jalalpore district, Gujarat, India. It is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea near the city of Navsari. It shot into worldwide prominence in 1930 when Mahatma Gandhi selected it to be the place for the Salt Satyagraha. He marched from Ahmedabad to Dandi with some of his followers to protest against the imposition of a tax on salt. See the place the Salt March ended, see the camp site at Karadi and the Gandhi Smriti railway station, visit Dharasana Salt Works memorial. The Saifee Villa Museum, established in memory of this march, houses artifacts and pictures that exhibit Gandhi’s life and achievements is another prominent attraction of the destination.
Valsad is bounded by Navsari District (located at a distance of 16 km from Dandi). On the east, the district is surrounded by the Dang District, while to the west lies the Arabian Sea. The history of Valsad can be traced back to the time when the Parsis first entered India from Sanjan Port. From here, they marched into the different areas of the country.
Later, the group will drive back to Surat and overnight stay at the hotel.
