Yes, Happy World Elephant Day! World Elephant Day is an international annual event on August 12, dedicated to the preservation and protection of the world’s elephants.
The video snippet above showcases a herd of sacred elephants we spotted on our safari day at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve June 3, 2015. Gandhi Satyagraha Tour of South Africa 2015
Another fabulous video taken from Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, South Africa: Satyagraha Tour of SA 2014
I spot another elephant with a “Tower of Giraffes” further behind the giraffes in the bush. The elephant spots me with my camera, and is as curious with me as I am with him. He is back in the bush by a tree and begins walking directly toward me, throwing his trunk into the air, flapping his ears, he rubs the top of his head with his trunk, he turns, stops and begins to stare directly at me. He shows me the tip of his trunk, he stops and his full attention is directed our way. He is a young male bull, he walks as close as he can get to me; there is a trench with water that separates him from the road. He stops at the beginning of the trench and stares; I stare back and film his every move. He curls is trunk, stops and right before he begins to walk on, he flaps his ears as if he is waving good-bye.
