This day we will begin with breakfast and a special visit to Kaba Gandhi no Delo, the home Gandhi grew up in. A signature 1880s construction, it now houses a museum called Gandhi Smriti. This house obviously is one of the several important landmarks when tracing back the Mahatma’s life. It is here that he spent married life, went to school, and made friends.
Young girls are now taught embroidery on the Gandhi Smriti premises. After exploring the place, we will head to Rashtriya Shala.
Rashtriya Shala: While boycotting Government Institutions as a part of the Non- Cooperation Movement, Gandhi asked the people to pull out of British-run schools too. He introduced Gujarat Vidyapeeth in Ahemdabad and Rashtriya Shala in Rajkot, therefore rejecting British propaganda enforced through education.
Visit to the Alfred High School
Next on the agenda for us is Alfred High School. This is where Gandhi went for primary and secondary education. The school is now known as the Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi High School.
Accommodations: Imperial Palace Rajkot
Meals Included: Buffet Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Imperial Palace Rajkot.
